Splatoon’s Story and What It Means To Be Human

My most ambitious video to date, this project was born from my fascination with the Splatoon series of video games. Diving deep into my personal experience growing up alongside the fictional setting of the game, I investigate why I and many others found it so captivating.

Between scripting, voiceover, illustration, animation, and editing, this project took a couple hundred hours to complete, allowing me to evolve my skills in writing and production. The video reached 100k views in 5 days and currently has over 280k.

Music Used: "Trees..." from OMORI

Wild Side

Wild Side, named after the song it was based on, is collaborative animation built in Notch and designed for projection mapping. As seen in this video, it was displayed on the front of Laws Hall at Miami University's Emerging Technology in Business and Design student showcase (Spring 2023).

My contributions include the "guitar hero" strings and falling notes as well as text flashing in time with the lyrics (including post processing and effects). Other parts of the project were done by my classmates Noah Davis and Mel Hale.

Polygonal

A short film created during my time at Miami University, Polygonal is a piece that explores loneliness and introversion, but also creation and introspection. I combined the aesthetics of interactive media with experimental film techniques to create a record of my emotions as I finished an important event in my life: my final week of college.

Making use of both live action footage and 3D models, I attempted to emphasize the power of individual artistic vision in the context of my own personal connection to the digital and physical world.
